Harvard NPLI’s bio states that Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger was appointed in 2015 by President Obama to lead TSA, “a position he held until January 2017.” CNA’s trustee bio uses the same end date. This draft treats January 20, 2017 — the end of the Obama administration and the statutory turnover of a presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed assistant secretary — as the end of the TSA tenure. No primary source located for this draft shows a Senate removal or a personal charging paper attached to the exit.
The same later bios list him as president or managing principal of Neffenger Consulting, LLC; a distinguished senior fellow and instructor at Harvard’s National Preparedness Leadership Initiative; a Baldwin Wallace trustee; and a CNA trustee. Those are self-published institutional lines. They are not Smartmatic titles. The Smartmatic U.S. chair announcement is a separate 2018 press release.
